What This Passage Teaches

The Christian Life Is a Walk

Paul describes life with God as an ongoing walk. Following Christ is not a single spiritual moment; it is a daily direction expressed through repeated choices and obedience.

Walk in the Spirit

Believers are called to depend on and follow the Holy Spirit. He leads through the truth of God’s Word and supplies the strength needed to obey what the flesh resists.

A Promise for the Struggle

The answer to sinful desire is not mere willpower. As believers walk in the Spirit, they do not have to surrender to the desires of the flesh.

Why It Matters

This verse gives both a command and hope. Sin remains a real conflict, but it is not the believer’s master. God has given His Spirit so that His people can live in a new direction.

Walking in the Spirit means bringing ordinary decisions under God’s rule—listening to His Word, responding in obedience, and relying on His power one step at a time.
