15And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
What This Passage Teaches
The Command Comes from Christ Himself
“And he said unto them.” This charge is not a strategy the church adopted or a cause it chose. It is the risen Christ speaking to His disciples, and the weight of it rests entirely on who gave it.
Go Ye into All the World
“Go ye into all the world.” The direction is outward. No nation, culture, or corner of the earth lies outside the reach of this command, and no believer is asked to wait until the world comes to him.
Preach the Gospel
“And preach the gospel.” The content is fixed. To preach is to proclaim as a herald announcing news that is already true — the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is not the offering of opinion, advice, or improvement.
To Every Creature
“To every creature.” No person falls outside the scope. The gospel is not reserved for the promising, the respectable, or those already near; it is to be carried to everyone, without the preacher deciding in advance who is worth telling.
Why It Matters
Mark records the same charge that Matthew records, and its plainness is the point. There is no qualification here about gifting, office, or circumstance. It is a command given to Christ’s disciples in every generation, concerning all the world and every creature.
It also settles what is to be carried. The task is not to make the message more agreeable, but to preach the gospel as it stands. Where the gospel is preached, God has promised to work; where something else is offered in its place, there is nothing for faith to rest upon.
