Matthew 28:19-20

19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
What This Passage Teaches
The Authority of Jesus Christ
The command opens with “therefore,” pointing back to what Christ had just said in verse 18: “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” The commission does not rest on the strength, wisdom, or qualifications of those who are sent. It rests on the authority of the One who sends them.
Making Disciples of All Nations
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations.” The scope is every nation, not one people or one place. The aim is not merely to pass on information, but to make disciples — learners who follow Jesus Christ and are shaped by Him.
Baptism
“Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” Baptism is the outward confession of those who have received Christ, naming the God to whom they now belong and marking their break with the old life.
Teaching Obedience
“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.” Discipleship does not end at conversion. The charge is not only to teach what Christ said, but to teach obedience to it — and to all of it, not a selection of the parts we find comfortable.
Christ’s Promised Presence
“And, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.” The command closes with a promise. Those who are sent are never sent alone; the presence of Christ goes with His people until the very end of the age.
Why It Matters
This passage is the reason this ministry exists. The commission was not given to a few specialists but to the church, and it has not been withdrawn or completed. Every generation of believers receives the same charge: go, make disciples, baptize, and teach obedience to Christ.
It also settles how the work is done. Because the authority belongs to Jesus Christ and His presence is promised to the end, the task is never carried in our own strength. We are not asked to invent the message or to sustain the work alone — only to be faithful to what He commanded.
