How to Share Your Testimony
Tell Others What Jesus Christ Has Done
Your testimony is the story of how Jesus Christ has worked in your life. You do not need a dramatic past to have a testimony worth sharing. Your testimony can open the door to a gospel conversation—but it points to Jesus; it does not replace the gospel.

A Simple Three-Part Testimony
1. Before Christ
Briefly explain what characterized your life before you understood and believed the gospel. Do not glorify your past. The purpose is to explain why you needed Jesus.
2. How You Understood the Gospel
Explain how you came to understand that you were a sinner who needed a Savior, and how you trusted Jesus Christ rather than yourself, your works, religion, or anything else to save you.
3. Following Christ
Speak truthfully about what Christ has changed and continues to change. Jesus did not simply improve your circumstances. He saved you and is changing your life.
Keep the Gospel Clear
What changed your life was not becoming religious. You came to understand that you had sinned against God and could not save yourself. Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. Keep Jesus at the center, tell the truth, do not exaggerate your past, and spend the greatest amount of time on Christ and the gospel.
Practice a Three-Minute Version
Use 30–60 seconds for your life before Christ, 60–90 seconds for how you understood the gospel and trusted Christ, and 30–60 seconds for how following Christ is changing your life. Then pray for one person and ask God for an opportunity to share it.
