Unit 6 • Following Jesus

Andrew

Bringing people to Jesus one invitation at a time

Andrew often appears quietly bringing someone to Jesus—his brother Peter, a boy with a small lunch, and visitors who wanted to meet Christ.

Who Was Andrew?

The disciple who invited others to meet Jesus.

Andrew was a fisherman from Bethsaida and the brother of Simon Peter. He first followed John the Baptist, who pointed him to Jesus as the Lamb of God. After spending time with Jesus, Andrew immediately found Peter and said, “We have found the Messias,” then brought him to Christ. When a large crowd needed food, Andrew noticed a boy with five barley loaves and two small fish and brought the situation to Jesus. Later, when Greek visitors wanted to see Jesus, they spoke to Philip, who went with Andrew to tell Him. Andrew’s ministry reminds us that quiet invitations can have far-reaching results.
