Who Was Peter?
The fisherman Jesus restored and sent to serve.
Simon Peter fished in Galilee with his brother Andrew. Jesus called them to become fishers of men. Peter left his nets, walked on water toward Jesus, and confessed that Jesus is the Christ. He also misunderstood Jesus, acted impulsively, and denied knowing Him three times. After the resurrection, Jesus met Peter by the sea, asked three times if he loved Him, and told him to feed His sheep. At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit empowered Peter to preach, and thousands believed. Peter later helped the church understand that the good news is for every nation.
