Who Was Elisha?
The prophet who served and showed God’s care.
Elisha was plowing a field when Elijah placed his mantle on him as a sign of God’s call. Elisha left his work and served Elijah. When Elijah was taken to heaven, Elisha received responsibility as Israel’s prophet. God worked many miracles through him: purifying water, multiplying a widow’s oil, raising a child, feeding hungry people, healing Naaman, and recovering a borrowed axe head. Elisha also spoke God’s truth to kings and trusted God’s unseen protection.
