Unit 1 • Beginnings

Noah

Trusting God and building by faith

In a world filled with violence and sin, Noah walked with God. He believed God’s warning, built the ark as God commanded, and discovered that God is faithful to rescue and keep His promises.

Who Was Noah?

A man who walked faithfully with God.

Noah lived during a time when the earth was corrupt and full of violence, but he found grace in the eyes of the Lord. God told Noah that a great flood was coming and commanded him to build an enormous ark. Noah obeyed. He brought his family, the animals God sent, and food into the ark. God preserved them through the flood. When dry land appeared, Noah worshiped God, and God made a covenant with Noah and every living creature, placing the rainbow in the clouds as its sign.

Kids Version

God did not forget Noah or any living creature in the ark. He sent a wind, the water went down, and the ark came to rest. Noah waited patiently for God’s direction before his family and the animals stepped onto dry ground.

Moment 4

God’s Covenant

Kids Version

God made a covenant with Noah, his family, and every living creature: He would never again destroy the earth with a flood. God placed the rainbow in the clouds as the sign of His faithful promise.

Noah built the ark exactly as God commanded, even before he could see the flood that God had warned him about.

Memory Verse • KJV

“Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.”
Genesis 6:22

Think About It

Wonder together

  1. What made Noah different from the people around him?
  2. What might have been difficult about building the ark?
  3. How did God care for Noah’s family and the animals?
  4. What does the rainbow help us remember about God?

Family Discussion

Bring the lesson home

Remember

Take turns naming promises from God’s Word that help your family trust Him.

Practice

Name one right thing God asks you to do even when it feels difficult or when others choose differently.

Respond

Choose one task your family can complete faithfully this week. Encourage one another to keep going.

Activity

Build and Test an Ark

Use foil to shape a small boat. Float it in a bowl or tub of water, then add coins one at a time. Count how many it holds before sinking. Reshape it and try again. Talk about the careful instructions Noah followed and the patience required to build the ark.

You’ll need: aluminum foil, coins, and a bowl or tub of water. An adult should supervise.
