Who Was Samson?
A judge given great strength and great responsibility.
Before Samson was born, an angel told his mother that he would be set apart to God and begin delivering Israel from the Philistines. God’s Spirit gave Samson extraordinary physical strength. He tore apart a lion, broke ropes, and fought Israel’s enemies. Yet Samson often followed his anger and desires instead of God’s wisdom. He revealed the secret connected with his Nazirite calling to Delilah, was captured, and lost his strength. In his final moments, Samson prayed for God’s help, and God strengthened him once more against the Philistine rulers.
