Learning to listen when God speaks
God answered Hannah’s prayer, called Samuel while he was still young, and shaped him into a faithful prophet who guided Israel through a time of great change.
Who Was Samuel?
Samuel was the son Hannah prayed for and dedicated to the Lord. As a child, he served at the tabernacle under Eli. One night God called his name, and Samuel answered, “Speak; for thy servant heareth.” Samuel grew into a trusted prophet and judge. He called Israel to turn from idols, prayed for the nation, anointed Saul as its first king, and later anointed David after Saul disobeyed God.
