Unit 2 • God Leads His People

Caleb

Following the Lord wholeheartedly for a lifetime

Caleb saw the same giants as everyone else, but he trusted that God was greater. For forty-five years, he held on to God’s promise.

Who Was Caleb?

The faithful spy who never stopped trusting.

Caleb represented the tribe of Judah when Moses sent twelve spies into Canaan. The land was fruitful, but ten spies focused on strong cities and powerful people. Caleb quieted the crowd and urged Israel to go forward because God could give them the land. Only Caleb and Joshua trusted God’s promise. Because of his different spirit and wholehearted faith, God promised Caleb an inheritance. Forty-five years later, at age eighty-five, Caleb asked Joshua for the hill country God had promised him.
