Joshua

Strong and courageous because God was with him

Joshua trusted God’s promise, learned beside Moses, and led Israel into the promised land with courage rooted in God’s presence.

Who Was Joshua?

The faithful leader who followed Moses.

Joshua first appears as a military leader and Moses’ assistant. He went partway up Mount Sinai with Moses and stayed near the tabernacle. As one of twelve spies, Joshua agreed with Caleb that God could give Israel the land, even when the other spies spread fear. After Moses died, God appointed Joshua to lead. Joshua guided Israel across the Jordan, led them at Jericho, divided the land among the tribes, and called the people to choose whom they would serve.

The priests obeyed by carrying the ark forward, and God stopped the Jordan so the nation could cross.
