Who Was Daniel?
The exile who faithfully prayed and served.
Daniel was a young Jewish man taken captive to Babylon. He and his friends were trained for royal service and given new names. Daniel respectfully requested food that would not defile him, and God gave the four young men wisdom. God also enabled Daniel to understand dreams, including King Nebuchadnezzar’s troubling dream. Daniel served with such integrity that jealous officials could find no fault in him except his devotion to God. When prayer to anyone but King Darius was outlawed, Daniel continued praying as before. He was thrown into a lions’ den, but God sent an angel and kept him safe.
